Chandigarh, December 31

The government of Haryana has decided to award 5% extra points to candidates for the post of Group C who have no family members in the government.

However, the special incentive for applicants domiciled in Haryana, including orphans and widows, as per “socio-economic criteria” will come with an income rider. To qualify for this benefit, the applicant’s annual household income including that from agriculture must not exceed Rs 1.8 lakh.

‘A chance’

The weighting by the CSSS or any government agency will only be given once in a lifetime. Sanjeev Kaushal, Chief Secretary

A notification issued by Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal pointed out that the Common Eligibility Test (CET) to be conducted by the Haryana Personnel Selection Commission (HSSC) will carry 95% marks, while 5% of Points will be awarded based on “socio-economic criteria” and experience.

The benefit will also be available for a widow or the first/second child where the father died before reaching the age of 42. The first/second child would also receive an allowance if the father died before the child reached the age of 15.

In the case of male applicants, the term “family” will include father, mother, wife, brother and unmarried sons. Similarly, for unmarried candidates, family means father, mother and unmarried brothers.

In the case of a married applicant, family would mean husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, unmarried brother-in-law and sons. For a divorced candidate, this would include father, mother, unmarried brothers and sons.

Given their socio-economic backwardness, the benefit would also be extended to members of denotified tribes (Vimukti Jatis and Tapriwas Jatis) who are not included in the Scheduled Caste or Backward Class categories.

Meanwhile, applicants from Haryana will be given a weighting of 0.5% for each year or part thereof exceeding six months of experience on the same or higher positions in any ministry.
