The government of Uttar Pradesh on Monday announced an ex gratia of Rs 45 lakh and a government job for the parents of four farmers who died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident yesterday.

The state government has also announced that a retired High Court judge will investigate the matter.

Uttar Pradesh Police Supplementary Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said: “The government will give Rs 45 lakhs and government employment to the families of four farmers who died yesterday in Lakhimpur Kheri. The injured will receive Rs. 10 lakhs. FIR will be registered based on farmers’ complaints. A retired High Court judge will consider the matter. ”

The ADG also informed that no political party leader will be allowed to visit the district as article 144 of the CrPC is in place.

However, members of farmers’ unions are allowed to visit the district.

Several opposition leaders from various parties, including Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, are due to surrender today at Lakhimpur Kheri.

As many as eight people died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on Sunday, police said.

The additional superintendent of the police, Lakhimpur Kheri Arun Kumar Singh, confirmed eight deaths, including four farmers and four occupants of the vehicles which allegedly ran over the farmers.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella organization of several farmers’ unions, alleged that Ashish Mishra Teni, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni, arrived with three vehicles at about moment when farmers dispersed their protest against the helipad and mowed. farmers and towards the end also directly attacked SKM chief Tajinder Singh Virk, trying to get him to run a vehicle.

However, Ashish Mishra refuted SKM’s claims and said he was not present at the location where the incident took place.
