Punjab to ease government requirements on hiring age

The Punjab Civil Servants Recruitment Rules 1976 (Relaxation of Upper Age Limit) were relaxed by the Government of Punjab to extend the upper age limit for applicants for government posts by two years.

Only jobs advertised by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and other public bodies between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 are eligible for the single age-based application process.

“Notwithstanding anything contained in this Rule or anything to the contrary contained in the rules applicable to any position or service, a general relaxation of two years, in addition to the allowable age relaxation under this Rule or any other rule, is eligible in respect of all positions including those to be filled through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and combined competitions,” reads a notification from the provincial government.

The police department, on the other hand, is exempt.

The SPPC Chair’s summary was used to make the decision on easing the age. Candidates lost a year to the outbreak, according to the commission’s report. Sardar Usman Buzdar, the chief minister, approved the summary after recommending a two-year relaxation for candidates.

In the end, all legal requirements were met and the amendment was enacted.
