The JI sit-in in front of the Sindh Assembly building will continue on the 17th day.
Shara-e-Faisal road from the airport to Saddar will be closed during the protest and traffic will be redirected to other roads like Karsaz Road and Shaheed Millat Road which will lead to Tipu Sultan Road.
The ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Jamaat-e-Islami have met twice to discuss the disputed Sindh Local Government Bill.
Sindh government officials led by Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah met JI leaders for a meeting to discuss the matter.
JI Karachi leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, who is leading the protest, announced on Thursday that Shahrea Faisal will be blocked at 3:00 p.m. on January 16 (Sunday) to lobby for the party’s demand on the Local Government Act.
The third round of talks between the two sides is scheduled for Monday.
Rehman said earlier that some PPP ministers, either at the behest of or keeping senior leadership in the dark, were doing their best to sabotage the dialogue process.
He further said that JI’s struggle is aimed at protecting the future generations of the country from feudalism, according to information from FYR.
The JI leader added that feudal mentality has taken hold of the Pakistan People’s Party. It has already captured the rural areas of the province and is now aiming to take over the urban areas of Sindh, he said.
