There will be a cabinet reshuffle in the Kerala government, confirmed LDF official EP Jayarajan

The government of Kerala will soon proceed to a cabinet reshuffle. This was informed by EP Jayarajan, head of the Left Democratic Front. He said there will soon be a reshuffle in the state government cabinet. The reshuffle was confirmed after Excise Minister MV Govindan Master took office as the new Secretary of State of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday.

CPM central committee member and local government minister MV Govindan will replace Kodiyeri Balakrishnan as the party’s new state secretary. Notably, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan resigned from his post on Sunday due to his health condition.

In a brief official statement issued after the State Committee meeting on Sunday, the CPM confirmed the promotion of Mr. V. Govindan to the post of State Secretary of the CPM. “Since Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is unable to discharge his responsibilities as State Secretary of the CPM, MV Govindan was elected State Secretary of the party at the State Committee meeting held today,” CPM said in a statement.

The meeting was chaired by LDF Convenor EP Jayarajan and attended by CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other Politburo members Prakash Karat, MA Baby and A Vijayaragavan.
